Hello Everyone:

The board was excited to welcome a new board member Ken McCartny.  He is a therapist in Kodiak, who came to Alaska from California.  It was exciting to hear about his journey and to welcome his experience and knowledge to the board. 

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge Vicki Heinz for a job well done.  She has been an awesome representative for us on the national level and her shoes will be hard to fill.  I personally appreciate her willingness to share her knowledge as I attempt to fill those shoes.

We said good bye to Kirk Zinch, Member at Large, who rotated off the board this year.   Thank you Kirk for your participation. 

Last year we heard from you that those off the road system needed more opportunity to connect with other therapists and get CEU’s.  In 2009 several of you participated in our Teleclasses put together by Mercy Dennis, as a means to help with affordable CEU’s.  There are still some exciting opportunities ahead.  If you haven’t taken the opportunity to join in yet there are still a few left for this round of conferences.  More information can be found on the website.  In 2010 we plan to continue with the teleclasses and are looking into the possibility of adding skype casting.

There were no nominations received for President Elect.  This is an important position and we would like everyone to consider serving our profession in the area where you feel gifted and comfortable.  If you would like to volunteer or need more information, please feel free to contact me or any other board member.

We are continuing to work with the NASW, AKPA and AKCA looking at future conferences.  This will allow for discounted conference rates for our members, the possibility of bringing in high profile people and professional alliances.
